Chef Jeremy Grandon
At the helm of the Yardbird kitchen is the acclaimed chef and owner Jeremy Grandon. With a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from the University of Michigan and a degree from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York – the world’s premier culinary college – Chef Jeremy invested five years early on in his career as a station chef at the former Tribute in Farmington Hills. He then went on to open and operate Jeremy Restaurant & Bar, which became a destination for metro Detroit diners celebrating everything from anniversaries to birthdays to graduations and other special occasions. The restaurant also was heralded as one of the area’s finest dining establishments by respected restaurant writers. It was the only Michigan restaurant featured in the coveted September 2004, Top Restaurant issue of Bon Appetit. After having been open less than six months, the Detroit Free Press recognized Jeremy Restaurant & Bar as its 2004 Restaurant of the Year. Chef Jeremy also has been named by Restaurant Hospitality among its “Rising Stars” and a Crain’s Detroit Business “40 under 40.”
After more than 20 years in fine dining, Chef Jeremy closed his namesake concept, Jeremy Restaurant & Bar, in Spring 2014 to conceptualize, renovate and open Yardbird in the same space later that year. Yardbird, a casual culinary experience that fills a void in area dining options and reflects changes toward more informal dining habits, has quickly become a favorite neighborhood gathering spot that continues to resonate among former Jeremy Restaurant & Bar patrons.
